Karama Human Rights fest in Jordan to present ‘Gabriel’

Iranian short film ‘Gabriel’ is to vie at Karama Human Rights Film Festival in Jordan.

Iranian short film ‘Gabriel’ has been accepted into the competition section of the 11th edition of Karama Human Rights Film Festival in Jordan.

Directed by Yousef Kargar, Gabriel will be screened in the Short Film category of the event, which will be held in Jordan’s capital, Amman, from December 10-17.

The short flick narrates the story of a father who is in a real quandary. He has to decide under difficult conditions among love, faith, and conscience.

The cast includes Yousef Yazdani, Shabnam Yousefi, Ali Mokaram, Sina Faramarz, Manzar Asghari, and Rasoul Omranifar.

Back in April 30, the film was shown at the 20th Ivy Film Festival in the US.

The 24th Flickers’ Rhode Island International Film Festival (RIIFF) in the US, the 17th Human Rights Film Festival of Barcelona (FCDHBCN) in Spain, the 17th Cheongju International Short Film Festival in South Korea also played host to ‘Gabriel’.

Kargar is also the recipient of the grand prix for the best foreign film and best cinematography awards at the 29th edition of the Berkeley Video & Film Festival in the US.

The main theme for the Karama Film Festival is human rights in general; children, women, refugees, political, economic, social and civic rights, and the role of films and culture in creating social and political change.
